Portrait Quilt by Christy
I received a very cool gift in the mail today - a custom portrait quilt.
Christy, an Internet friend I met in an online quilting community, has been learning to create quilts designed from photographs. Since she’s expanding her business to Ebay and stores, she needed some samples to display, and asked for volunteers to provide a photograph that she can use to practice her new skills. I was more than happy to volunteer a photo, and my brother helped me find a really neat photo of my mom when she was a toddler. I received the finished result in the mail today and I love it!
If you’re interested in one of Christy’s quilts, she’s now creating them for commission. She has an ad on Ebay, and some more samples of her quilts on her website. I really do recommend her - the quality is great and it’s really a unique way of displaying a treasured photo.

What a wonderful surprise to see this picture on your blog. The photo that was used was made on my first birthday. It’s a beautiful way to memorialize a photo that is very special to me. I look forward to getting it framed so that it can be hung on the wall and protected from the elements. You’ve created a real family heirloom. Thank you.
