Banana Cream Kitchen

Kitchen with new paintThey say that the color of the rooms where you eat should remind you of food you like…

This weekend, my kitchen went from tang powder peach to banana cream yellow - with a stop off at cream cheese white in between.  Picking out a color for a room is alot harder than I thought, and my first choice ended up being much lighter than I wanted.  It looked like an unpainted room.  Luckily, my brother showed great patience with me, and we painted it again to a more yellow shade.  The room now has a warm, fresh glow.  The room seemed to blend together with peach walls, cabinets, floors, and counters, but now the yellow gives a little contrast.

I like everything about it except that weird light hanging over the kitchen sink!

I love the color! That is just about the color I painted our kitchen. I can’t tell you how much time I spent in Lowes standing in front of the paint swatches. It seems like a never ending process.

Thanks. That weird light is the undercounter florescent light that was there when I moved in. Dad and I went looking at Home Depot for a prettier light that would arch over the valence when I finally get it up, but no luck, so he put that one back up for the meantime.

What a difference some paint can make! I like the new color. As for the over-the-sink lighting–you could take a picture of the area to a lighting place and tell them you’re looking for ideas. See what they suggest. You’re not obligated to buy from them.
