Atlanta Race for the Cure

May 13th, 2006 by sallad

Over the bridgeBright and early this morning, Thomas and I joined a few of my coworkers for the Atlanta Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. It was a really great experience. I was shocked at how many people (over 12,000) were there in support of breast cancer research. And it was neat to see the many breast cancer survivors - they wore pink race numbers instead of white.

The race was 5k (about 3 miles), and I finished in 1 hour and 33 minutes. I walked and chatted (and took photos) the whole way. I’m proud to say that together, Thomas and I raised $180, and my team raised over $2000. I think I heard the announcers say that all of the participants raised over one million dollars together…not bad for an early morning and a little leg ache.
