Independance Day Weekend

Happy Independance Day! We’ve had a busy long weekend. Here are some of the highlights…
- We went to see the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Screen on the Green with Jane and Bill, and Anna and Dave. There were alot more people there than I imagined, but it was fun to hear everyone sing along to the songs.
- We played Trivia with Jane and Bill, Anna and Dave, and Alison and Kevin at Summit Park Tavern. We surprisingly ran into Thomas’ high school buddy who we barbequed with last weekend.
- Jane, Anna and I went to the Farmer’s Market at Piedmont Park. They had the most bright beautiful flowers there and I got some edamame. We had brunch at The Flying Biscuit, where we watched anti-gay rights protesters while we waited for a table.
We went to our Minister’s wedding - Congratulations Greg and Liz - at UUMAN. It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony, where I both laughed and cried…and took notes for ours next year. :)- I took Thomas on a bus-driving lesson. He did well until the bus overheated on a hilly gravel road that he was trying to do reverse on. That’s when my patience started running low too, so we called it a day.
- I made a batch of really bad sugar cookies. I do not recommend Martha Stewart’s recipe. I also made a beer cheese dip with cheddar cheese, cream cheese, ranch dressing and beer. It was tasty and addicting.
- I did my first scrapbooking experience. It was like the patchwork side of quilting - I had fun. And I was surprised that all scrapbooking things don’t have to turn out looking cutesy and little girlish.
We had Anna and Dave, and Bill and Jane over for brauts on the grill. Dave made some great blackberry cobbler. We played Apples to Apples and then rode the MARTA to the fireworks at Lenox Mall, which happened to get rained out.- We finally decided on an engagement ring. More details to come…
By the way, it was one year ago this weekend that I bought my house.
