I’m Still Alive
I haven’t written since I got back from Phoenix, but I’m still alive. All is well.
The weekend I got back, we were supposed to go to the High Country Bus Festival in Boone, but the bus is broken so we had to pass it up. It’s okay though, since I was pretty worn down by the trip.
The following weekend, we went to the Batland Bluegrass Festival to learn about some of the local bluegrass bands. It was fun, but way too hot. Next time, we’ll be more prepared with camping gear, food, and Clover so we don’t have to rush home at night. I really wanted to hear a particular band that I was interested in for the wedding, and though they’re good, it turns out that they’re out of my price range.
I also went wedding dress shopping with Jane and Anna that weekend. There was a particular dress that I had my eye on. Thankfully though, they were honest and convinced me that draping a bunch of extra fabric over my mid-section emphasizes my stomach, rather than the minimizing I was trying to achieve. I had been so focused on finding something to hide my body that I wasn’t looking at dresses that made me feel beautiful. We came up with some other types to look at - hopefully this next weekend.
This weekend, we cleaned out the garage, painted half of the master bedroom, did some yardwork, and saw Talladega Nights. We kept busy, but it was a fun, relaxing weekend.
And some random comments…the first entry photo is a few tomatos and peppers I picked in my garden. The second is a green cicada that was hatching on our porch. Today is the 11th anniversary from the day I moved from Boca and Georgy’s Birthday. Happy Birthday, G!

Wow! 11 years. How time flies when you’re working. I still miss the beach, flat land, and flowers in winter. I don’t miss the pushy people, traffic, honking, and people speaking languages that I don’t understand. I’m glad you are keeping track of the time; I wasn’t.
Your veges look great.
As your future sister-in-law I do not want to overstep my boundaries on advice. When I was married almost 3 years ago I was 5 months pregnant. It was difficult to find a dress that did not make me feel uncomfortable with my mid-section. You might want to consider A-line dresses. My best suggestion to you is to go somewhere like David’s Bridal, try on several types of dresses until you find what looks good on you. They have a lot of variety and their staff is very knowledgable. It will make dress hunting a lot easier once you have a better idea of what looks good on you.
Suzanne - You’re not overstepping your boundaries. David’s Bridal was one of the first places I went - I’ve been to several ATL shops now actually - and you’re right, A-line is definately the right shape for me.
I think I’m having the most trouble because my style preference (fabric mostly) has changed. At first I thought I was looking for one kind, but then I changed my mind. The other part is trying to keep it not too formal and that’s kind of hard. Thanks for the advice. I’ll tell you more about what I’m looking at when I see you this weekend.
