One summer day when I was camping at the farm, a friend and I took a walk along the ravine and saw numerous copperheads lying very still sunning. It was at the pond that one nearly cost Nancy Carol's life.

We killed 2 copperheads in our yard a year ago. One was under a pile of brush and the other was slithering across the driveway going toward the brush pile. We suspected the 2 were headed for a rendevous. They ended up going to snake-heaven instead.

I'm wondering if it's a Northern Copperhead - we didn't know at the time. We watched it for quite a while and it didn't move at all, so I think it might have been dead.

Uh, did you know that your "very still snake" is a copperhead? Google copperhead photo and you'll see what I mean.
