Hummingbird

Ruby Throated HummingbirdThis weekend, we were lying in the living room and Thomas commented that he saw a hummingbird fly by the front window. Full of hope, I bought a hummingbird feeder and hung it up.

The only hummingbirds I’ve ever seen was at our friend’s house in Indiana. His birdfeeder was packed with them. Anyway, as it turns out, Thomas was right, we do have hummingbirds. We think it’s a ruby throated hummingbird. I wonder how long they’ll be here for.

Wish you could have seen them at Derelys’ this spring. Dane may have taken pictures of them.

Be carefuly not to hang your feeder too close to the window (or to not keep your window so clean). They are beautiful, but not so bright, and fly into windows frequently, leaving deadly consequences. I was tramatized by this as a child once.. :)

Becca - Good to know. It is right in front of a window and he did hover near it like he was looking in for a moment.
