Apron with fake pleats

January 25th, 2007 by Sallad

I just remembered I didn’t post this earlier - I was waiting until I gave it to Jane for her birthday a couple of weeks ago. This was the first half-apron that I’ve ever made, but I was pleased with how it turned out.

First, I made a long tie, to tie around the waist. Next, I hemmed the bottom and sides, and then at the top, I sewed a little pocket all the way across, and strung the long tie through it - kind of like a curtain rod. Then I scrunched the apron up on the tie, and sewed it down at each end where the tie went through the apron, so the scrunching would stay. It was my attempt at making fake pleats.
