Exhausted but Happy

My Family, Version 2.0

I haven’t quite had a chance yet to process all of the parts of Saturday yet, so I’ll start with Sunday.

The morning started out early. We packed up and I said good-bye to Georgy and Rick in the hotel lobby, while Thomas tracked down his brother to lend him his car keys. Then Mel, Thomas, and I rode in the VW Bus, still painted with Just Married on the back window, to our house. My parents hosted a brunch there for the out of town guests before they all hit the road.

It was very successful and a lot of fun. My parents made some Southern breakfast favorites - sausage, grits, hash browns, and cinnamon rolls. Almost everyone invited stopped by and I think we were nearing maximum capacity for our house at one point. It was really nice to have some time to sit around and chat with everyone, especially since we didn’t have that much time at the wedding.

Once things started to quiet down, we attempted to take a brief nap before the family members came back for dinner that night. I know my parents were exhausted, since they had only slept for 2-hours so they could get everything out of the River Landing, and set up at the house. Thomas slept a little, but I wasn’t really able to.

That night, a couple of my aunts and uncles came back over to the house, where we ate leftover barbecue from the rehearsal dinner, checked out some of the photos already posted online, and opened some of our gifts. Again, it was really nice to get that extra time with family.

Thomas was finally able to use his camera again on Sunday, and he got a few good shots. Here’s some of my favorites of guests that stopped by…

We also set up a Day After the Wedding flicker group for anyone that wants to add photos to it:

P.S. I’m trying out a new format for posting photos - what do you think? Too big to load quickly or easier to see? I was inspired by the layout of one of my favorite blogs to read: Confessions of a Pioneer Woman
