Cleaning Burnt Pans

July 25th, 2007 by sallad

I just discovered a great cleaning trick today. I had burnt milk caked on the inside of a sauce pan (in case you’re reading this Mama C, don’t worry, it was not a pan you gave me). I tried soaking, scraping, and scrubbing with no luck, then I checked Google. The first trick I read worked great - boil dishwasher detergent for 20 minutes in water. It loosens the burnt cakey mess, and you can just wipe it away. Voila!

You could probably have just poured boiling water over detergent in the pan and left it in the sink for about an hour. The concoction must have smelled awful.

I like to use Easy Off oven cleaner. I haven’t tried it on a non-stick surface, but It works great on my 1/2, 1/4 & cookie sheets.

I have another nifty trick for you to try next time. boil cola in the burnt pan for a few mins and it should come of with no scrubing!
