Fun Monday: Depths of my Refrigerator

July 30th, 2007 by Sallad

I’m not doing too well with getting these Fun Mondays posted before Monday. Oh well, here’s my Fun Monday Night…This week, Amy at A Family Story asked to see our refrigerators. Mine shows that Thomas and I have started regressing back to the bachelor lifestyle. Honest, I used to cook before we moved to Atlanta.

So here’s the fridge - highlights include leftovers we will never eat, Thomas’ orange juice he drinks every morning, salad stuff that will go bad before we use it, and snack packs that will stay there until the expiration date when Thomas makes me throw them out finally.

Be sure to note the drawers at the bottom - I have labeled them here with their real contents.

And the freezer - highlights include a ton of wedding cake which was delicious on the wedding day (not sure how it is a few months past then), lots of biscuits that my Mom bought for Thanksgiving last year and the post-wedding brunch, ice packs, microwave pizza, and Jagermeister.

This is vegetarian bacon. You know, I once set off the fire alarm in my college dorm while cooking this stuff in the middle of the night.

This is the outside of the fridge. On it, you can see a handful of photos of our niece, a postcard with a VW Bus on it, our Save the Date postcard, a Weight Watcher calculator, various magnets (random Swedish word, a robot, a bus campout reminder, a shih tzu, the doc-in-a-box info, some roosters, and a wooden heart with my name. The ribbon at the bottom says “I support magnetic ribbons.” My Mother-in-law made me on the apron hanging on the door. Wow, I’ve never noticed the dent in the door before - I wonder how long it’s been there.

This is one of my favorite kitchen utensils - they’re little clips that hold the most used spices on the side of the fridge. Our most used spices are: Aromat (from Sweden), Chili Powder, Molly McButter, Red Pepper, Basil, Oragano, Mrs. Dash, and Garlic Powder.

And if you enjoyed this post, you should check out the one I made last year on my kitchen cupboards.

    Love those clips for spices.
I have some magnetic spice containers on the side of my fridge but you have to empty the spice into them, then remember what is in them… those look much more useful!
The top layer of my wedding cake is still in my freezer. I have just had my eighth wedding anniversary. Might be time to throw it out.

I’m with everyone else, those spice holders are a good idea, don’t know why you don’t see them more often. Hmmm, a pepsi girl eh, not to worry, I guess we could still be friends.

You got them in Sweden? That doesn’t help much…I wonder if Ikea has them. They are so clever.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen vegetarian bacon here in the UK but maybe that’s because I’ve never looked for it!! Like everyone else I like the spice holders I just keep mine in a drawer. Oh and I see you have an apron so you won’t have an excuse not to enter into the fun next week (I’m hosting)!!

I love the spice magnets,. they’re fab.
Your fridge and freezer seem so much more organised than mine…there’s a reason I didn’t show the freezer half of mine…

Worthington! I grew up eating food made by Worthington. The cafeteria in my college (Southern Adventist University) served mainly foods from them. I have quite a few different Worthington products at home. Being a vegetarian, that’s probably my main source of protein. Although, for fake bacon, I generally tend to go with the MorningStar (owned by Worthington, last I checked) than the Worthington version, mainly because I can’t usually find Worthington products in my local store. :-(

Do you have anything else made by Worthington? And where do you find them? I generally have to drive back to my alma mater to get them.
