L is for Lists
I am a sticky-note-aholic. I live by lists. And stacks and spreadsheets too.You should have seen the spreadsheets I had going while planning our wedding - what was left to make/do, addresses of who to invite, who was sitting where, who has been sent Thank You notes… Things were very smooth on our wedding day…but that was thanks to family rather than my lists. In the rush of things, most of my lists were thrown out the window.
Actually, I find that I use lists to calm my worries, rather than to follow. For me, making a list is like documenting a thought so I can get it out of my head and let it go. This is sort of like I do with items I’m having a hard time throwing away - I take a photo and then it’s easier to get rid of.
Thomas is not a list person, but this weekend he decided to go label crazy in our garage. It has been a huge mess, but with the help of his label gun, we now have clear work benches and labeled drawers, shelves, and boxes. He has a photo showing what it looked like before on his Flickr site and this is what it looks like now.

I, too, make lists and it is to free my mind of it. I also take pictures of things before I throw or give it away. When I gave up weraring high heels, I lined my high heeled shoes on a bed and photographed them before taking them to Goodwill.
I’m the same way with lists, I keep worrying I’ll forget something, but if I have a list then, it’s filed away and I can move past it!
