Mama C’s Pink Tote
For my grandmother’s birthday (the same day as mine…just a few years off), I made her a totebag. Now that she’s received it in the mail, I can post photos. I styled it after the green tote that I made in March.
For Mama C’s tote, I used pink fabrics I’ve been saving in my stash for just the right project, and this was finally it. I also used some linen for the bottom. The methods I learned from the Amy Butler purse I made last month for the handles and stabilizer came in handy.
Overall, I’m pleased with how it turned out. The handles are a little long, but maybe that will work out for her. I also attached one of the handles slightly crooked, and accidentally put two of the same pinks next to each other.
Thanks to Thomas for being my model up above. This shot shows a little of what the inside fabric looks like. I think I’ll make the next tote just a little wider.
And here’s what it looks like on a shoulder.

Dallas, I measured the straps on a couple of my favorite tote bags from conferences. I measured the straps from the top of the bag rather than from where they attach. On one bag they are 25″ and on the other they are 28 1/2.” You have to consider the height of the person who will be using the bag when making the straps. Momma C is much shorter than I, so she would use shorter straps than I use. (I spoke to her this afternoon, and she loves the bag. You did well, no matter what length the straps are.) If you don’t point out the mistakes, we won’t notice them. I really like the colors on the bag. Good choice - very cheery.
The pointing out of mistakes is just more of a learning tool - for me to reflect on what I’d do differently for the next time.
