Red Swatches

Sick of posts about dining room colors yet? I hope not, since I’ve got one more right here.

When I was at Joann Fabrics this week, I picked out some swatches in their interior decorating section that might make good curtains or seat cushions. I’ve been having a hard time finding just the right red - everything seems either too orangy or too crimsony. I found some good middle grounds though - don’t know how well they’ll show up over the Internet.

Now I just need to figure out if any of these would work, and if they would be too challenging to sew.

Go with the stripe for one of your fabrics. Maybe the seat cushions. And use a different fabric for the curtains. I like the 2nd from the right on the bottom row (your top picture). Brandi and I like the diamond-patterned fabric and the brocade fabric, as well.

I love those swatches you found! However, if you aren’t totally sold on one of them and since you live here in Atlanta, have you tried Forsyth Fabrics? It’s on Huff Road off of Howell Mill. They have one of the largest selections of fabric I’ve ever seen and they have good prices. (There are actually quite a few fabric outlets in the Howell Mill Road/Chattahoochee Avenue area.) Also, Outrageous Bargains near the Big Chicken is sometimes a good place to look.

Just make sure you pick a good sturdy fabric for the seats and line your curtains. They’ll hang so much more nicely that way and look muy professional.
