Contest Winner

November 27th, 2007 by sallad

When I started this contest, my random guess was that I’d make 6 ornaments while on the road. And then we hit holiday traffic. Instead of taking 6 hours to North Carolina, it took 10. So then you might guess I made 8 ornaments. But on the way back, we got a really late start, and I only had a couple hours of daylight. Then you might guess 7 ornaments. But…I was a newbie with embroidery and I had a little stumbling along the way, so I only got 3 ornaments completed.

Congratulations Ali! You guessed correctly. Send me your address and I’ll mail you one of the bird ornaments.  The pink bone is for Clover. :)

Though these took me a while, I still recommend the pattern. (Her sample was a little neater.) Next time, I would bring more than one needle, make sure I have embroidery-sized needles, and cut the shapes out beforehand. However, these were fun and easy to make, and I learned three new stitches - the daisy stitch, the blanket stitch, and the French knot. I cut out a few more shapes that I will finish up, and these will go proudly on my tree.

handmade is a lot of times more important than neatness. I like your they have a rustic feel to them.

Those are adorable. And since I don’t have enough to do already, I am adding them to my list right now. Thanks for the link.

they are really lovely and thanks for the link. That is something nice to do in the evening instead of cutting out fabric for bags (which i hate doing by the way)
