Advent Candles in the Window

December 20th, 2007 by Sallad

I just learned about Theme Thursdays this week from the Land of KA who recently started hosting them. Every Thursday is a new theme to inspire a photo. This week, the theme is window, and she posted some tips on using light from a window to light up your subject.

Since I forgot about this until tonight, it was already dark and I couldn’t use window light. But there was one photo I forgot to get from yesterday’s post with the Christmas lights — the advent candles through the window. Thomas insisted that proper decoration required Swedish Advent candles, so we ordered some from Helmshold. It’s one of the popular holiday decorations we saw while visiting Sweden last Christmas.

They are very pretty, but the photo was shot in the rain, with a dirty window, and a screen on the window, so it looks a bit blurry. I don’t know what the significance is of the 7 candles either. Any guesses?

Well I cant help with what the 7 candles mean, but it’s a great shot…I love the look, you can just sorta see what’s behind them and I think that add’s alot to the shot!
