Some Backyard Birding

January 27th, 2008 by Sallad

We had some technical difficulties this weekend, and my new hard drive still is not installed. Sorry, I don’t have any Jekyll Island photos yet, but here are some birds from our yard. We got a new bird book to ID, and I’m excited that I’m having to look up less and less because I’m learning their characteristics. That’s a White-throated Sparrow and female Cardinal in the top photo. I love how they look like I interrupted their private conversation. I’ve posted more photos on Flicker:

This weekend, I discovered a new-to-me bird, the Brown Creeper. He has a very tiny, delicate-looking beak.

I also got some good shots of a Red-shouldered Hawk just outside our bedroom window. He has parked himself on this particular branch a couple of times to scope out the birds at the feeders.

Wonderful birds! I have wanted to see a brown creeper but have yet to see one. :(
