Weekend Update

April 26th, 2008 by Sallad

We have a full weekend schedule and will be posting a few photo albums in the next couple of days - Boating on Lake Windward, Birding at the Monastery, and the UUMAN May Day Party. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peak at the Embroidered Buttons I’m making for a swap. This is really my first embroidery project, so I made sure to keep it simple.

Are We There Yet Mom is holding a photography contest for a book on Macro photography. There is no theme for this month, so I’m submitting this tricolored heron that I saw at Jekyll Island a couple months ago. I had meant to enter it in the Atlanta Audubon Photo Contest, but I missed the deadline.

Tricolored Heron

Also, I made two updates to my blog. In the link bar across the top, you’ll see that the Swap Log is back - this is a list of the craft swaps I’ve participated in. I also added a Yard Log with a catalog of the birds we’ve photographed in our yard. Wow, 26 species! And I know there are a couple more that we just haven’t captured in photos yet.

P.S.  Next week, I’m participating in color week with Curious Bird.  Each day, I will post photos focusing on a particular color.  There isn’t a theme, but I think I’m going to try and focus it on things around our house.

Ashley - Thank you! For birding, I usually use a Sigma 50-500mm (Bigma) lens. It’s heavy and hard to use in low light, but it allows me to stay a good distance from the birds. You can see how far it reaches in here and what it looks like here.

I’ve been *seeing* birds thanks to your influence. I decided to play in the photo contest, so thank you for the link. And I like your embroidery.
