Exposaroonie: Softer Side of Nature

May 20th, 2008 by sallad

This week on Exposaroonie, the challenge theme is the Softer Side of Nature. I was glad to get a nature challenge, as that is what I usually prefer to photograph. Unfortunately, I have not captured any really great animal shots this week - even with two deer in our backyard this weekend. Instead, I wandered around my backyard with my macro lens and captured these two shots. I haven’t decided which, but I’ll submit one for this week’s challenge. What do you think?

Fuzzy Leaves

Dandelion

There were a few other shots that I captured that I was really pleased with, but they didn’t seem as “soft” to me. Anyhow, I wanted to share them, and there are more on Flickr.

White Flowers

Autumn Fern

Fly

And these next two photos are the same photo, but I just changed the colors in post-processing. It’s interesting how much just that can change the feeling of a photo.

Leaves - Monochromatic

Leaves - Rich Colors

All the photos are good, but I like thinking of the soft landing the little fly makes.

Wow! I just love your photography. The colors, the composition - oh my! I like them all, but I really like the second picture.

I can’t wait to spend more time exploring your blog.

I like the picture of the mother and baby dove, but I think the young cone flower is a real example of the softer side of nature. The cone flower, fully grown, is the most prickley, coarse flower I know, so it’s really amazing to see how soft it is when it begins.
