A Game: Where Am I? (Winner!!)

August 3rd, 2008 by sallad

I know I said I would post one more entry of photos, but since the answer has been posted in the comments, I’m going to go ahead and pick a winner.  You all are awesome - great guesses posted and emailed to me.

Before I announce where I was, here’s a few more photos…  The answer, and the winner are listed at the end.

This was our hotel. It doesn’t look like much, but it was pretty fancy, by my Red Roof standards.

This is the Parliament Building. We watched a parade of the Queen and some other fancy folks ride past here.

This lovely piece of art is one of the country’s most famous pieces. It’s called Manneken Pis (Little Man Pee).  He’s usually dressed up in costumes, but we saw him in his birthday suit for National Day.

I’m not sure the significance of this statue, but the country is famous for cartoons. In fact, it’s where Smurfs originated.

I’m not much of a beer drinker, but Kriek is delicious cherry-flavored beer. I drank it almost every night.

This is one of the other foods that the country is famous for, though I wouldn’t say this was the best example of it. I bought this in the metro station. The menu said bananas, so I thought it would have sliced bananas on top, but it was just banana sauce - still tasty though.

So you got it now? Know where I was? I was in Brussels, Belgium! Thomas went there for business for two weeks, so I flew out on the third week to tour the area with him.

And the winner of guessing where I was is…Colleen!  Colleen, if you email me your snail mail address, I’ll send you a little souvenir.

And just for fun, a bonus question…

I took a photo of that landed me being taken by guards to the police where they made me delete my photo and then went through the rest of the photos saved on my camera?  Any guesses on what the photo was of?

I would have expected Thomas to get in trouble, but maybe he has learned from previous incidents. I’m guessing you were either in a parliament building or palace of some sort.

Was it a photo of inside the airport? I had a friend who got the same treatment for taking photos of the customs area of an airport in the UK.

My guess would be the American Embassy.
